TREASURES BENEATH CETATUII HILL

The construction of the city’s first cathedral began in 1350.It was a catholic cathedral, dedicated to Saint Michael.After building a 24 meter altar, the works continued until 1487.The initial decorations dissapeared, but a recent restauration of the walls unveiled fragments of delicate paintings m from the 14th and 15th centuries.
In the chapel of the tower , another 15th century fresco , “Golgotha”, survived,The gates holds King Sigismund’s coat of arms.The cathedral , one of the oldest Gothic buildings in Transylvania , towers of the Unirii Square , which used to be the “heart” of the city.
CITY CENTRAL
The building now host a collection covering the history of pharmaceutics , with drugstore tools from all over Transilvanya.The rooms kept their original destination:storage room, lab, office.On the ceiling of the last ,visitors can still admire frescos with pharmaceutical symbols fron the 18th century.
Also built in the 18th century is the palace that is home to the National Art Museum.Built between 1774 and 1785 by architect Johann Eberhard Blaumann and by orders of Governor Gyorgy Barnnfy ,this building best represents Transilvanian baroque.
Two other notable buildings stand nearby: the Palaces of the Roman-Catholic Status, built at the end of 19th century.

Cluj Napoca
Cluj-Napoca , until 1974 Cluj, is a city in north-western Romania and the seat of Cluj County. The city, one of the most important academic, cultural and industrial centres in the country, is located in the historic province of Transylvania, being also its historic capital, and is approximately 440 km north-west of Bucharest, in the Someşul Mic Valley. Cluj-Napoca is an important economic centre in Romania. Famous local brands that have become well known at a national, or even international level, include: Banca Transilvania, Farmec, Jolidon, Napolact, and Ursus breweries.
The city has also become an important IT sector centre, with over 100 software companies and two universities that provide quality graduate engineers. Nokia will invest 200 million euros in a mobile telephone factory and a research centre in Cluj. The final discussion between representatives of the County Council and those of the Finnish group were held on March 20, 2007 after the decision was made to invest in Romania. "Given that demand for mobile phones is seeing a steady increase, Nokia has looked into opportunities of increasing its production capacities in order to meet the growing demand from customers". Ericsson is also in discussions to open a plant here.On March 26, 2007 a memorandum was signed between Nokia and Cluj County Board, in the presence of Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu prime-minister.
British investment and financial services group Dawnay Day, owner of the Brasov-based commercial centre MacroMall, says it will invest 135 million euros in two real estate projects in Cluj-Napoca. The first project, which has started construction on the site of the former Tricotaje Somesul plant located in Cluj-Napoca city centre, amounts to 85 million euros. The project will include a four-star hotel, a business centre with a total surface area of 10,000 square metres, as well as some 32,000 square metres of retail space. Shady real estate deals near Nokia Village in Transylvania
The prefect of the Romanian county of Cluj has announced he would chack the retrocession cases involving properties in the villages of Jocu and Apahida, situated close to the 150 hectare-wide property where a Nokia Village will be built. According to Prefect Alin Tise, every bit of land around the future Nokia Village are currently subject of retrocession claims.
Land prices has been spiraling in the region with some areas costing ten times as much now compared to what they used to cost before Nokia announced it would buy a major industrial park in the Jucu area - the so-called Nokia Village.
